We all have the right to bring forth our children in love, with confidence and security.
In times past a women may have witnessed birth many times before it was her turn to bring life into the world.
She would have gained the confidence and knowledge that birth is a natural process and that she was
created perfectly for this purpose. She would have learned from her mother, sisters, aunts, and other female
friends that there is magic in birth. She would have come to understand that labor is an ever changing
process whereby a women is brought to the edge and back many times before she actually triumphantly,
ecstatically gives birth. Witnessing birth was an invaluable empowering lesson for a women. In this
knowledge she learned to welcome rather than fear this process.
But unfortunately in this changing world many women have never attended a birth. Many women do not have
female companions who are experienced in the art of supporting a women during labor and birth. For that
reason a doula can be an enormous source of support to a women in a time when it is most crucial. The doula
holds a constant positive female presence that is invaluable to a women during labor.
Along with prenatal care and continuous labor support I also offer postpartum advise. I am always available
for questions that arise and assistance that may be needed after baby is home. Like breast feeding and cord
care.
It is my ardent desire that your birth experience be deeply fulfilling to you and your family. I would be honored
to be part of that experience.
